A dream gone...
Luciano Pavarotti died today of pancreatic cancer. He was 71. I was a lonely and awkward adolescent when I was first captivated by his great voice. Today, years later, as I was driving, I heard the news on the radio and I felt sadness wash over me. I shall never have the chance to see his rotund form on a stage and listen to his amazing voice with my eyes closed. This is Nessun Dorma, one of his most emotional performances ever, which was also part of his final perfomance last year.
