a flick

I have to say this shot was a pleasant surprise. Both are unedited, but if you flick your camera really quick just as the shutter shuts, you get an effect like the picture on the right. I expected a blur, but after several tries, realized it was the vibrant colour of the PicusGold itself that did it.

I already spend hours in a dingy ol room full of books, so if libraries looked like this, I probably would give up my life goal of marrying the rich, old guy and become a spinster librarian with 26 cats...

More pictures here...and they are all of existing libraries around the world.

When you stumble upon something life changing...

I remember seeing this picture of an emaciated child, making his way to a food camp in Sudan, while a vulture watches in the background, waiting... in the newspapers some years back and reading the story of the photographer, Kevin Carter who won the Pullitzer for this shot and commited suicide shortly after because he couldn't live with the atrocities he had seen Sudan, I was so disturbed that I couldn't sleep or think of anything else for some weeks after. The images that affected the world so can be found here.

Life....literally.

I love those wooden, handpainted cats from Bali years back (people watching). I've never seen cats with so much character before.
I also love my handmade satin bound journal (Life...literally.)

Ladislav Kamarad takes beautiful pictures of wild landscapes, with mere Hasselblad equipment. European Professional Photographer of the Year 2005 and one of the few titleholders of the Master Qualified European Photographer (MQE-P). MQE-P is the highest distinction awarded by the Federation of European Photography. Basically, you have to be bloody good to be awarded such a title. His online gallery

I'm not sure about you, but there's always been something about aircraft windows that I found hauntingly beautiful. When on land, it was interesting to see the vast view outside from behind little windows, a little like a strange creature viewing an alien world from a pod. When suspended in mid air, why, is there anything better than the excitement of flying amidst puffy clouds? View France Bizots photos themed aircraft windows here.

Nick Brandt captures the beauty of wild Africa. Looking at his pictures makes my human self feel like an intruder, sucking life out of the beautiful planet. Let your mind soar, here you are
